Program Overview

Do you like helping others? Are you ready to further your personal and professional development? GBC offers a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Course that can lead to a beginning career in health care.

Program Mission

To provide a student-centered occupational preparatory program which will graduate competent, safe and compassionate nursing assistants who are prepared to provide excellent care as part of the health care team.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Define the role of a nursing assistant.
  • Describe the responsibilities of a nursing assistant
  • Perform specified skills required to function as a member of the health care team.
  • Demonstrate safe, competent care within the practice guidelines of a nursing assistant.
  • Provide care in accordance with the rights of every patient.

  • Register as a GBC Student 775-327-2068 or admissions@gbcnv.edu.
  • Enroll in the CNA course. Assistance with enrolling in a GBC class.
  • Purchase a subscription from American Databank (Complio) 1-800-200-0853 or . You will need to add these packages: vaccine tracking, drug screen, background check.
  • Before class begins: 1) Upload all required documents into your new complio account before class begins. 2) Complete drug screen. 3) Obtain BLS from American Heart association (AHA).
  • BLS is available at GBC call 775-327-2317.

The CNA course is a hybrid course consisting of three parts:

  • Theory 40 hours
  • Skills Lab 60 hours
  • Clinical 20 hours

Course length is 4-8 weeks depending on location.

You must be 16 years of age to enroll in a CNA course.

No, you do not need a high school diploma or a GED to enroll in a CNA course.

GBC Health Sciences and Human Services offers these courses. Call 775-327-2317 for class information.

We offer CNA classes in Elko, Battle Mountain, Winnemucca, Ely and Pahrump.

  1. Apply to 91传媒
    1. Application
  2. Once your application for admission is processed, you will be given a username and password for signing on to the MyGBC Self-Service Center
  3. Complete the Prerequisite Checklist
    1. Subscribe to Complio package for your location. Choose the student bundle option for your location and program:
    2. Background check/drug screen - before class begins
    3. Schedule an appointment for physical exam (Pahrump only)
    4. Two-step TB skin test within last 12 months or Quantiferon Gold lab test for TB
      1. Get the first screening completed read after 48-72hrs
      2. After 7-before 21 days have second screening
    5. Current MMR series or booster or appropriate titer levels
    6. Varicella (2 dose series or adequate titers)
    7. Hepatitis B series (3 or 2 dose series or titers)
    8. Covid Vaccine (optional)
    9. Current Influenza Vaccine
    10. Tdap within last 10 years
    11. CPR: American Heart Association BLS course
    12. Must have current Health Insurance
  4. Enroll in Course!

  1. Select a Term from the Term dropdown box. Example "2024 Fall"
  2. Enter "NURS" in the Subject text field. Example "NURS"
  3. Enter "130" in the text field directly below the Subject text field. Example "130"

NSBN Certification Process

  1. Successful completion of the GBC CNA NURS 130 course
  2. Create an account in the , complete a CNA license application and submit the application fee to NSBN.
  3. Schedule and pay for the required written and skills exams through the CNA365 application on the Credentia website https://credentia.com/
